“Disney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. The story you know, and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.

Prominence Academy of Performing Arts first started rehearsing for this production back in 2019 following the success of their first big production, Seussical. In March 2020, the magic carpet was ripped out from under their feet, when the company shut down with the rest of the world for a long 13 months. However, the children remained connected on Zoom, and although Aladdin was put to one side, they participated in virtual singing, dance, drama, and mindfulness sessions, led by company owners Lynette Beaton and Lauren Mortimer.

Now the young people of Prominence Academy are ready to share with you, their long-awaited return to the stage in this beautiful, fun, and colourful production which is bound to have you laughing and singing along. “
